We are seeking a highly skilled, reliable, and efficient Mechanic to join our busy service team in the Kayamkulam/Alappuzha area. The ideal candidate must have comprehensive knowledge of vehicle systems relevant to the local transport sector, strong diagnostic capabilities, and the ability to perform high-quality repairs quickly and accurately, particularly for vehicles used in local commerce and tourism.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnosis & Repair: Inspect, diagnose, and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and minor body issues across a wide range of locally popular vehicles, including passenger cars, commercial vehicles (vans, small trucks), tourist taxis (MUVs), and three-wheelers (Auto-rickshaws).
Preventative Maintenance: Perform comprehensive regular maintenance and scheduled servicing, focusing on issues common due to coastal air and frequent stops (e.g., rust prevention, suspension, and braking systems).
Parts Management: Accurately identify, source, and replace faulty parts, navigating the local supply chain efficiently while ensuring proper fitting and functionality meet safety specifications.
Record Keeping: Maintain detailed, systematic, and accurate records of all diagnosis, repairs performed, parts used, and service hours (using either traditional logbooks or digital systems).
Workshop Standards: Strictly maintain the cleanliness, organization, and high safety standards of the workshop environment.
Customer Service: Communicate repair details, technical explanations, and cost estimates clearly and professionally to customers, often in Malayalam.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: ITI (Industrial Training Institute) or Diploma in Automobile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical qualification is highly preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong, practical understanding of vehicle systems common in Kerala (Maruti, Hyundai, Tata, specific MUV/Taxi models) and foundational diagnostic procedures.
- Tool Proficiency: High proficiency in using a full range of mechanical, specialized, and diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with acute attention to detail and quality of workmanship, particularly on older or high-mileage vehicles.
- Work Ethic: Honest, responsible, self-motivated, and capable of working effectively under the pressure of local service demands.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience: 2–5 years of verifiable experience in multi-brand vehicle servicing, commercial fleet maintenance, or a reputable local garage in the Alappuzha/Kollam region.
- Diagnostic Experience: Specific experience troubleshooting common electrical and fuel system issues in regional vehicle models.
- Language: Fluency in Malayalam is required for technical and customer communication.
