We are looking for a highly creative, technically skilled, and story-driven Video Editor to join our content team focused on promoting the unique cultural heritage, tourism, and local businesses of Kayamkulam and the surrounding backwater region. The ideal candidate must be passionate about authentic visual storytelling and capable of transforming regional footage into polished, engaging digital content.
Key Responsibilities:
End-to-End Editing: Expertly edit raw video footage into high-quality, appealing final content for diverse digital platforms, including promotional tourism videos, cultural documentaries, short social media stories (Instagram/Facebook), and local event coverage.
Post-Production Mastery: Apply techniques including smooth transitions, consistent color grading (capturing Kerala’s vibrant greens and warm sunlight), effective sound design using local music/effects, and professional text overlays (in English and Malayalam).
Creative Collaboration: Closely collaborate with local cinematographers, cultural experts, and marketing personnel to develop compelling video concepts and execute a clear, narrative-driven visual vision.
Cultural Integrity: Ensure all final videos accurately and respectfully portray Kayamkulam’s culture, heritage sites, and local life, adhering to quality and ethical standards.
Workflow Management: Efficiently manage media files and multiple editing projects (often dealing with footage shot in various weather/lighting conditions), consistently meeting production deadlines.
Local Trend Awareness: Stay current with digital trends and video formats popular within the Kerala/South Indian travel and lifestyle digital space (e.g., YouTube Vlogs, regional Reels/Shorts).
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree or Diploma in Film Editing, Mass Media, or a related field is highly preferred.
- Software Expertise: High proficiency in industry-standard editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve.
- Artistic Sense: Strong creative mindset with an excellent sense of visual composition, pacing, and the ability to enhance the emotional impact of cultural narratives.
- Technical Acumen: Good understanding of various video formats, especially optimized delivery for mobile and regional digital platforms.
- Language: Basic proficiency in reading and understanding Malayalam is essential for handling local voice-overs and text.
- Work Style: Detail-oriented, responsible, and capable of managing the full editing process independently.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience: 2–5 years of professional video editing experience, preferably in the tourism sector, event coverage, or a digital agency focused on South Indian content. (Candidates with a strong portfolio showcasing cultural or travel video projects are highly encouraged).
- Prior Work: Experience documenting local festivals, backwater life, or heritage sites.
